Islander's popular IR Series is a small, lightweight click and pawl reel for 2WT to 8WT. The series has a unique click drag system with five drag settings that are adjustable from the frame-side adjustment knob. This allows for precise drag control when using lightweight tippets. Like other Islander reels, this series has been engineered to last a lifetime. Crafted with the same precisionand attention to detail as other Islanders, the IR series is has set the standard for clicker-style reels. The frame, foot, spool and other components are manufactured from 6000 series billet aluminum bar stock, using the latest in computer controlled machines. They are then buffed and carefully hand polished before being anodized. In order to maintain free movement, the spools are fitted with 2 self-lubricating (oilite) bushings. The series’ simple design also makes switching between left and right hand retrieve as easy as a quick flip of the pawls - no tools required. IR's are available in either a gold or black anodized finish, and come furnished with a Cocobolo wood handle.

The LX is the next generation Islander Large Arbor reel. Featuring a lightweight, open face, vented arbor spool, the LX Series are one of the lightest reels available. All LX reels are furnished with a cocobolo wood handle, and incorporate the same rugged drag system as the popular LA Series which it replaces. Apart from the name, the LX 3.4 and 3.6 are identical to the LA 3.4 and 3.6. The LX 3.8 has been made narrower than the LA 3.8, making it ideal for an 8 WT. The LX 4.0 has the same dimensions (diameter and width) as a LA 4.0W, but features a larger drag surface. The LX 4.5 has been made slightly wider than the LA 4.5 to provide ample capacity for a 12WT. The LX 3.8, 4.0, and 4.5 are considerably lighter than the comparable LA models, and are one of the lightest reels available.
